You cannot put a price on safety. Newer condominium buildings, such as Merrick Manor in Coral Gables, were constructed under Florida’s current building codes, which are among the strictest in the nation.
Wall Street Journal reports that in Greater Miami, two out of every three condo buildings are more than 30 years old. That means these buildings were completed before the post-Hurricane Andrew building codes were enacted.
“Many of the aging towers line the beachfront, where salt corrosion and other forces are speeding their decline,” the WSJ report states. “That is leaving thousands of buildings saddled with multimillion-dollar repair costs – and little notion of how to pay for them.”
In Coral Gables, which is a short drive inland from Greater Miami’s beaches, Merrick Manor is the only condo building of its size that was completed under current building codes. It truly has no counterpart when it comes to luxury, walkability, convenience, value and safety.
Located at 301 Altara Avenue, the 10-story, 227-residence Merrick Manor’s pet-friendly amenities and lifestyle truly cannot be beat. Merrick Manor also has a Zillow Walk Score of 77, making it “very walkable.”
