A newly released Harvard University study examining the real estate impact of sea level rise and climate change concluded that residential homes and condominiums on higher ground will be worth significantly more than in low-lying areas.
“In Miami, higher elevation land will be worth more,” Harvard’s Jesse Keenan, who co-authored the study, told CNBC. Keenan noted that residential values on Miami’s coast have already declined by 10 percent due to sea level rise and climate change.
Harvard tracked the historical values of more than 100,000 residential properties throughout Miami in preparing the study.
