Forward-Thinking Merrick Manor Incorporates Electric Vehicle Technology

In yet another example of how The Astor Companies stays ahead of the curve, the developer’s 10-story, 227-residence Merrick Manor luxury residential project in Coral Gables will be equipped with rapid charging stations for all kinds of electric vehicles. Consumers are increasingly embracing electric vehicles as an environmentally friendly and cost-effective alternative to traditional vehicles.

There are several types of charging stations, including residential charging stations; public charging stations used at garages, malls and train stations; fast-charging stations used at locations such as truck stops; mobile charging stations and even inductive charging mats. The present standard for how long it takes to rapid charge an electric vehicle to 80 percent capacity is 30 minutes, but new technologies are being introduced to bring the charge time down to 10 minutes – in line with how long it takes to fill a tank at a gas station. A standard home wall socket charger takes between six and eight hours to charge.

More information about electric vehicles and charging stations can be found on the U.S. Department of Energy’s website.

Merrick Manor is the premier new development in Coral Gables and currently under construction. ONE Sotheby’s International Realty is exclusively handling residential sales at the project. Astor Real Estate Group is marketing the 19,000-square-foot commercial component at Merrick Manor.
